MSU Forensic Anthropology Lab Technician

By helping in the Michigan State University Forensic Anthropology Lab, led by Dr. Carolyn Isaac, I contributed to the development of a digital database for radiographs. This utilized technological skills by inputting and transferring images into a combined format, and furthermore captured digital photographs of physical radiographs to transfer over to the database.

In class experience

Part of the curriculum of the forensic anthropology course at Mott Community College included directly interacting, examining, and categorizing human remains for sexual, ancestral, and age characteristics. Here I obtained vast background knowledge on not only human anatomy but received hands-on experiences. In particular, I was able to hold and observe the crania of three ancestries: African, European, and Asian, with both a male and female cranial example.

Forensic Art: Facial Reconstruction

This assignment had been an excellent research project to examine and interpret what forensic art is, details of the job, and methods involved. I have a personal interest in facial reconstruction, which was the primary focus of the assignment. The research conducted allowed me to experience reconstruction more closely.
